Alone in the CyberWorldCOMEDY

Spence, young film college student, wants to involve with her new project with passion. She contacts her former friend Marylin, who gives her special password to private video chat, where she and her friends are chat every day. Spence isn’t very good in this whole online stuff, she mostly uses internet for sending email or checking her college website. Now she finds herself completely lost in the cyber space, where everybody is talking with very specific language about things she’s never heard about. She meets charming John, peevish Mike, always calm and cold Megan, dark Shadow, sophisticated Corwin and many more. Spence learns what Twitter and Facebook are with little help from Kate, discovers magic of World of Warcraft with Falcon, talks about LAN connection with HD. Spence is shocked noticing that this world is so completely different than outside one. She tries very hard to get into the community, what makes very funny situations. Marylin is trying to help her, but her patience has a limit, so Spence has to deal with it only by herself very soon. Surprised, overwhelmed but mostly stubborn she starts to understand what online life is and how she is suppose to behave.
We can see the typical date chat, religious and political discussions, strong emotions built between people, who have never meet in real life. At first it hard to understand how exactly it works and nobody explains it well, but after few moments we’re into it, laughing hard. Internet means freedom of speech, of behavior, of everything but also is could be so ridiculous for somebody who never uses it for real and has been addicted to it.

What did you seeACTION

Spence makes new friends. She talks with Kate and Marylin for hours, joking with Marylin and John. The most mysterious person is Mike, who is hiding himself under mask of irony and wired sense of humor. These two is arguing all the time but is hard to hide that they like each other after all. Corwin, who is dark, sophisticated poet ignoring Spence just like Shadow, who is living into her own life and believing she’s falling angel. Chisette’s Corwin best friend, young and naive girl very childish but cute and sweet is trying to help everybody including Spence, but her advices are not so priceless as she thinks.
In the middle of this whole mess, Spence notices that John, handsome and charming young guy, is laying on his keyboard without a move. Concerned Spence is trying to do something about it but nobody believes that something serious has happened. Her desperation makes her new friends from video channel to react. They all are more or less impressed of her actions and notices that nobody knows anything about John.

Internet is a place where you can find everything. Spence is watching her friends how exactly they can get any information they want. They could find everything about John, but by strange accident, some strange things reveal. People know more about their friends they’ve even wanted. Mike and Corwin are trying to hide their secrets, but it’s impossible. What is uploaded online is always online. They are so afraid that everybody else who will find out about their real lives, will change their minds about them. They both fight with little help from Spence, to conquer the fear and tell the truth.
John’s issue is the most important part of the movie, but it helps to show everybody in completely different light. That’s the main reason, which changes paradise in hell, burns the security blanket. Spence is the most important person for everybody – how to deal with real problems, which sink to the online world. Everybody who are trying to find peace and calm there, finds themselves in much more trouble than in offline life. Running away sometimes it’s not an option because the real world is so far away for most of them. They have to deal with it now and there.

What is online is always online. If you uploaded picture, told something, recorded video – there things will be always online. Somebody always can find it. Everybody who starts using internet , feels completely free and sometimes is spreading the word without thinking. But this world is very similar to the offline one – some things are very predictable. But also having secrets and pretending being somebody else are a lot easier. But also you can find real friends there, even if they are living far away from you :0)
